What size should a Discord emoji be?
A 128x128 pixel square is a reliable source size for a custom Discord emoji. Discord displays emoji much smaller in messages, so use a simple shape with strong contrast and inspect it at chat size.
Does Discord resize emoji automatically?
Discord scales uploaded emoji for display, but preparing a clean square source gives you control over the crop, transparent padding and final file size before upload.
Can I use a transparent background?
Yes. Upload PNG or WebP artwork with transparency and the exported PNG keeps transparent areas. A JPG source has no transparency, so its background remains visible.
Does this make animated Discord emoji?
No. This page exports a static PNG. Uploading a GIF here would discard animation, so the file picker currently accepts PNG, JPG and WebP only.
