StreamerGiveaway
Nightbot poll alternative

Nightbot polls work.
Yours could be on stream.

Nightbot's !poll command creates a StrawPoll link and posts it in chat. It works, but viewers leave your stream to vote on a separate page and nothing shows on your overlay. StreamerGiveaway keeps the vote in chat and the results live on stream.

Nightbot, today

Nightbot's !poll posts a StrawPoll link in chat. Viewers click out to a separate page to vote, and there is no live result on your stream.

How it works today

How a Nightbot poll works

If you already run Nightbot for commands, its poll lives in the same chat. Here is the actual flow.

  1. 1

    Add Nightbot to your channel

Sign in at the Nightbot site and join the bot to your channel with moderator access so it can read and post in chat.

  2. 2

    Run the !poll command

Type !poll new with your title and options separated by pipes, for example: !poll new Best game? | Elden Ring | Hades II. Nightbot accepts up to 30 options.

  3. 3

    Nightbot posts a StrawPoll link

Nightbot creates a StrawPoll for your question and drops the link in chat. Your viewers click it and vote on the StrawPoll website, not on your stream.

  4. 4

    Check results with !poll results

Run !poll results to have Nightbot post the current tally in chat. There is no on-stream overlay, so the vote happens off your stream the whole time.

Being honest about it

Which one should you use?

Use StreamerGiveaway when

You want the poll to be a moment on stream: viewers voting right in chat by typing a number, the bars filling live on your overlay, and the option to keep it subscriber-only or weight your subs. All of that without sending anyone to an external page.

Stick with Nightbot when

You already run Nightbot, you do not mind viewers leaving to a StrawPoll page, and you just need a quick link-based vote that you read out from chat. If you want more than 8 plain options and do not care about an overlay, Nightbot is fine.

The switch in plain terms

The honest difference is where the vote happens. Nightbot sends chat to a StrawPoll page and posts the tally back as text. StreamerGiveaway keeps voting in your chat with !1, !2, !3 and shows the result as a live bar chart on your overlay, with sub-only voting, a sub vote weight, and a saved history, and no bot to add to your channel.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I make a poll with Nightbot?

Type !poll new followed by your question and options separated by pipes, for example !poll new Best game? | Elden Ring | Hades II. Nightbot creates a StrawPoll and posts the link in your chat for viewers to vote on.

Does Nightbot show the poll on stream?

No. Nightbot posts a StrawPoll link and text results in chat. There is no built-in browser-source overlay, so the vote happens on the StrawPoll page rather than on your stream. StreamerGiveaway shows the live results on your overlay.

Do viewers leave the stream to vote with Nightbot?

Yes. Nightbot's poll lives on StrawPoll, so viewers click a link and vote on a separate page. With StreamerGiveaway they stay in chat and vote by typing a command like !1.

Is StreamerGiveaway free like Nightbot polls?

Yes, both are free to start. StreamerGiveaway adds a live overlay, chat-command voting, subscriber-only voting, and a sub vote weight, and needs no bot added to your channel.

Can Nightbot do subscriber-only polls?

Not natively. Nightbot's poll is a StrawPoll link open to anyone with the link. StreamerGiveaway has a built-in subscriber-only voting toggle and an optional subscriber vote weight.

Do I need to be a Twitch affiliate for either?

No. Neither Nightbot nor StreamerGiveaway needs affiliate status, because both read or run from chat rather than the native Twitch poll, which is the part that is affiliate and partner only.
