Why the same-priced sub pays out differently
The price the gifter pays is only half the story. What the streamer actually keeps depends on the platform and, on Twitch, on the streamer's partner status.
Twitch standard, 50/50
The default for every Affiliate and most Partners. Twitch keeps half of every subscription and gifted sub, at any tier, from the first dollar.
Twitch Partner Plus, 70/30
Once a channel clears roughly 350 hours streamed over the trailing three months, 7 broadcast days a month, 75 average concurrent viewers, and $100 in net sub revenue a month, Twitch raises the streamer's cut to 70%.
Kick, 95/5 for everyone
Kick pays out 95% of every subscription and gifted sub to the streamer, no partner tier or viewership bar required. It is the platform's headline pitch to creators moving off Twitch.
All figures exclude sales tax, VAT, currency conversion, and payment processor rounding. Twitch's Tier 1 web price rose from $4.99 to $5.99 in July 2024; Tier 2 ($9.99) and Tier 3 ($24.99) were unchanged. How much is a Twitch gifted sub actually worth?+
A gifted Tier 1 sub costs the gifter $5.99 on the web ($7.99 in the Twitch mobile app, since Apple and Google take a store cut). Twitch pays the streamer 50% by default, so the streamer keeps about $3.00 of that $5.99. Streamers on Twitch's Partner Plus program keep 70% instead, about $4.19 per Tier 1 gifted sub.
How much is a gifted sub on Kick?+
A Kick sub costs $4.99, and Kick pays out 95% of that to the streamer, regardless of partner status. That works out to about $4.74 per gifted sub, more than Twitch's standard 50/50 split leaves after a Tier 1 gift, and even a bit more than Twitch's 70/30 Partner Plus rate.
Wait, isn't a Twitch sub $4.99?+
It used to be. Twitch raised the web price of a Tier 1 sub from $4.99 to $5.99 in July 2024, the first US subscription price increase in the platform's history. Tier 2 ($9.99) and Tier 3 ($24.99) did not change. Plenty of calculators online still quote the old $4.99 figure, which is part of why we built this one.
What is Twitch's 70/30 split, and do I qualify?+
Standard Affiliates and Partners keep 50% of sub revenue. Twitch's Partner Plus program raises that to 70% once a channel clears roughly 350 hours streamed over the trailing three months, streams at least 7 days a month, averages 75 concurrent viewers, and earns at least $100 in net subscription revenue a month. If you are not sure which split applies to your channel, use the 50/50 standard number as your baseline.
Does this calculator include taxes or payment fees?+
No. These numbers are the sub price multiplied by the platform's advertised revenue split. Sales tax, VAT, currency conversion, and payment processor handling can shave a little more off in practice, and both platforms round actual payouts to the cent on their own schedule. Treat this as a close estimate, not a bank statement.
How much are 100 gifted subs worth?+
At Twitch Tier 1 standard pricing, 100 gifted subs cost the gifter $599 and pay the streamer about $299.50 at the 50/50 split, or $419.30 under Partner Plus. On Kick, 100 gifted subs cost $499 and pay the streamer about $474.05. Use the calculator above for any other quantity or tier.
Do gifted subs pay the same as a subscriber buying their own sub?+
For revenue and the split, yes. A gifted sub costs the same price and pays the streamer the same percentage as a self-bought one. The difference shows up on the viewer side, where sub trains, streaks, and leaderboards can track gifted subs a little differently from self-subs.

Yes.
